Conclusion:
Overall the novel, Life of Pi, by Yann Martel is a story about a 16-year-old boy who finds himself stuck on a lifeboat with four other members. There are two stories in the novel, the first one a story with animals which included: Pi, a Bengal tiger, an orangutan, a hyena and a zebra. In the second story in the novel the members included: Pi, Pi's mother, a cook and a Chinese sailor. As Pi describes it, "In both stories the ship sinks, my entire family dies, and I suffer." (pg. 352) Which is the quote that explains the novel precisely, as proven throughout this media essay, it is shown that the animals described in the first story are the humans in the second story. Richard Parker as Pi, an orangutan as Pi's mother, a hyena as the cook and the zebra as the Chinese sailor. Both stories are thought to be true, but in reality the story with the animals is inhumane and unrealistic. In the stories, the cook eats the Chinese sailor, and they all fight each other till the death. But, as proven throughout this media essay, the animals in the story are not actually animals, rather they are people.
