More connections:
Connection with God: Throughout the novel the audience experiences Pi, have a close relationship with God/gods. He practices Hinduism, Christianity and Muslim Faith. As a religious 16-year-old boy, he puts his faith in God and prayers, acknowledging that God has a plan for him, and all of his actions are because of God. Pi says, "Religion will save us." (pg.29) in the novel, this quote explains his faith and beliefs. Pi being someone who is religious influences the development of the novel, and proves my thesis as well. Richard Parker seemed to help Pi become a better person, and helped as a motivational aspect. By doing this, it shows that Richard Parker was Pi's rock to live. In accordance to my thesis, it shows that they are the same person. In Pi's imagination he was the tiger but, it is only because God needed to show him that there is a will to keep living and to keep trying. Through God and Pi's religious beliefs he was able to imagine that he was actually on the lifeboat with someone else, but in reality it was only an aspect of his imagination.

Connection with overcoming obstacles: In the novel, Pi finds himself struggling for basic human needs such as food, shelter and water. On a lifeboat, with limited supplies it is difficult for Pi to fully maintain all of those needs. Throughout the whole novel, the audience imagines Pi's struggles and experiences and how he will be able to overcome them. The connection with overcoming obstacles relates not only to my thesis, but to society today. It relates to my thesis, because it explains the personal obstacles one must face, and sometimes bad thought can result into bad actions, hence the killing of every person on the lifeboat. "He killed her. The cook killed my mother." (pg.343) This connection also related to everyday society because it shows that in life you will have to overcome obstacles, whether they be small or larger like Pi's situation. Pi's strength and determination is a great example of how everyone should be when they are going through rough times. Believing in yourself can go a long way, therefore proven in Pi's situation.
